Nishine Shrine is in Yuno, a ten-minutes' walk from Iizaka- onsen Station.
"Nishine Shrine Donto Festival" is held on January 13 to 16 every year
and at the same time, "Takahata Tenmangu Usokae Festival," which is
in the same precincts, is held on January14 and 15.
@Because the road to the shrine is very narrow, it is
hard to go to Nishine Shrine. On January, 2001, I visited Nishine Shrine.
The day I visited was hit by cold wave and was one of the coldest days
in several decades. Therefore, it was more difficult to find my way
to the shrine. When I went through the stone Torii, there were many
stone lanterns on both sides of the approach to the shrine. Many kindergarteners
wearing colorful coats were there with their teachers.
@These two Festivals have no brave "Mikoshi" or " Dashi"(float). It
is the festival of Shinto ritual and customs held in the depth of winter.
I've decided to research Tohoku's winter festivals- "Nishine Shrine
Donto Festival" and "Takahata Tenmangu Usokae Festival."
